IOT in MENA / GCC – State of deployment before the GITEX 2018

Internet of Things is developing in the Gulf countries (MENA, GCC).
Small (non-exhaustive) status on IOT networks available in the MENA region, while GITEX 2018 will open its doors from 14 to 18 October 2018 in Dubai. The Internet of Things, for Smart Cities, Smart Metering, Smart Building and Smart Industries, will be a major topic at this year’s largest technology show in MENA and GCC.

Actility (major player in the world LORAWAN – LORA infrastructure for operators) has developed partnerships with regional players, such as Machinestalk in Saudi Arabia

Oredoo has announced the launch of a LORAWAN network in Oman. Oredoo is also the first Telecom Operator in the GCC region to join the LoRa Alliance.

DU (UAE) carried out its first LORAWAN tests in 2015 already! DU is the second mobile operator in UAE

Etisalat (UAE) announced in 2017 the launch of the first NB-IOT and LTE-M network for the MENA region. Etisalat is the key telecom actor in the United Arab Emirates.

SigFox is present in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman and Iran.

It is therefore possible to deploy IOT projects in the MENA / GCC region. Whether based on a public network LoRaWAN, SigFox or NB-IOT. Or based on a LORAWA private network.

As every year, for 5 years, IOT Factory will be present at GITEX 2018, in Dubai, from 14 to 18 October 2018. We will present our Open IOT Factory platform, as well as all of our IOT sensors, designed for the Smart Building, Smart Metering, Smart Construction and Smart Cities. Whether you want to connect your sensors via Etisalat, Oredoo, DU, Sigfox, or build your own private IOT network (LORAWAN), our open platform IOT Factory will allow the management of connections, devices, management of alerts, creation of tables of edge, advanced analytics, or the development of third-party applications!
